The Mockingjay

The Mockingjay is the final book in The Hunger Game trilogy. I really enjoyed the last book which centers on the rebellion that takes place between the districts and the Capitol, or more so President Snow. Like Harry Potter, Katniss Everdeen, is reluctant to take on the role of the mockingjay, or “chosen one” icon. However, Katniss’s character had an inconsistency. Most of the time she doesn’t understand the actual consequences of her actions until someone tells her. On the other hand, she can very accurately know what other people’s actions, however subtle, and what the meaning behind it was.

What I like about the series too is that I’m not exactly sure (and neither is Katniss) of who she will end up with… if anyone? I was a Katniss & Gale shipper the entire series, mostly because her and Peeta was so cheesy! I was disappointed it —-SPOILER—- ended up being Peeta, but after thinking about her reasoning, it made sense. I hope they do a good job with the triangle and really making it predictable to the viewer who she will end up with. The ending overall, I feel that I wasn’t completely satisfied with it. During the aftermath of the death of the President, Katniss was isolated the entire time and we don’t really get a good idea besides what Plutarch tells her. I felt it was a lazy way to end the book with her just going a little crazy and then ending up in district 12 basically by herself, and one day Peeta showing up. I wouldn’t mind if the movie changed the end up a bit! Besides that, I loved the book and the series. I highly recommend it to everyone, young and old!
