Snow Flower and the Secret Fan
I FINALLY finished the book earlier this morning! I feel like it took me far too long to finish… Well, I know it did but it’s because I started to work! Anywho, it’s about two girls and their lives in 19th century China. It details them as little girls, their foot binding process, marriage, and their post-marriage lives (the book is essentially broken down like that). The foot binding process was tough to read because it was very detailed (thoroughly researched by author Lisa See), and not a pleasant thing to imagine before bed. It was a good read for the most part, but not as engaging as other books I’ve read recently. It’s more character driven story than plot driven. It’s an emotional story (of every emotion) and beautifully written.
