Snow Flower and the Secret Fan
I FINALLY finished the book earlier this morning! I feel like it took me far too long to finish… Well, I know it did but it’s because I started to work! Anywho, it’s about two girls and their lives in 19th century China. It details them as little girls, their foot binding process, marriage, and their post-marriage lives (the book is essentially broken down like that). The foot...

Black Friday
YEAH got my deals on! Even though I went to sleep around 3am, I am now unable to sleep past 8am. Thank you job. We stood in line for about an hour and forty minutes at Best Buy and the line wrapped around to the back. I was worried I wouldn’t get any tickets for the items I wanted… but I did! Surprisingly, even though I was in the back, I suppose it was still early. I got an Ipad ($45...

Michelle Bachmann, the new Sarah Palin...
… but worse! I get it, there’s liberal and conservatives and in between. And then there’s the Tea Party. I really admired Hillary Clinton, being a woman force in politics, and then Sarah Palin was in the picture. I more tolerated her than anything because I really couldn’t picture her in the White House. The same went with this year’s Tea Party candidate for president...

Working girl
…meaning I got a job! A full blown, all out, daily grind, full-time job!  I started yesterday with the I&C department. Now I can really say I am an ENGINEER, an instrumentation and controls engineer! Yesterday was the usual first day orientation, HR training which wasn’t too bad. Today was the real work. I got started on some sheet checking. Which is mainly checking new versions of...

The Help: the movie
I saw The Help movie yesterday. I think in general it was good and did a good job staying true to the novel. However, I felt like the movie was only on the surface good. It wasn’t as deep as the book, and felt like a montage of the novel, especially Miss Skeeter’s story. I loved reading about Skeeter and Stuart’s relationship and its progression and even end throughout the novel,...

The Help
I just finished The Help and I really couldn’t put it down. It was probably the exact opposite after reading The Hunger Games. THG is action packed, fast-paced, and fantasy/sci-fi. The Help is told in narrative fashion with three narrators, Abaileen, Minny, and Miss Skeeter. Abaileen and Minny are both maids for a few white women in Jackson, MS. Miss Skeeter is a young, white woman who just...

The Mockingjay
The Mockingjay is the final book in The Hunger Game trilogy. I really enjoyed the last book which centers on the rebellion that takes place between the districts and the Capitol, or more so President Snow. Like Harry Potter, Katniss Everdeen, is reluctant to take on the role of the mockingjay, or “chosen one” icon. However, Katniss’s character had an inconsistency. Most of the...

Baked with love
Made cupcakes a few days ago for my bestie, Stef, because it was her 24th birthday! WOOT! I wanted to try this, it didn’t turn out as cute but it turned out nonetheless. I think the size of my heart cutout with too large. I used a sponge cake from scratch recipe and it was great! I’m going to try it again. It’s light yet dense enough to hold its shape when you cut it and...

Catching Fire
I just finished the second book in The Hunger Games series and I thought it was great! A few people told me the second and third aren’t as great as the first, but I thought it was on par. I was afraid that with the Quell, it was be a little tiresome to read about the games again. However, the setup of the games was pretty different that it wasn’t redundant. I liked that there...

Glitter "faded" nails
I finally I tried doing my nails after seeing this! I really like how it turned out, although I’m sure someone else could have done it better… I first used “first” as the base coat and two coats of essie’s “Chinchilly.” And then I used the curve nail art in silver glitter and traced the tip of my nail like french tips. I used an eyeshadow sponge tip...

The Hunger Games
I just finished the first book in The Hunger Games series and I’m addicted! It catches you in the first chapter alone. The main character is strong female voice named Katniss Everdeen (the names are weird) who lives in a post-apocalyptic world. The government is powerful and cruel and keeps its citizens in line by holding a yearly competition where one boy and one girl is chosen at random to...

The end of Harry Potter
I watched the final Harry Potter film today. It was great and really did the book series real justice. I’m writing this assuming you’ve read the book by the way. I really wondered how they would make the cast look older in their adult lives… I thought they did a fairly good job making them looking older. Ron looks hilarious! The only part I can’t remember from the book was...

A fun day!
Had a fun filled day, starting with the beach at Foster Ave. It was the perfect day, really breezy but really sunny! So you don’t really get sweaty while laying out. The downside is that because you don’t feel hot, you’re more likely to burn. Which kinda happened to me. I’m a little red @_@ Steph took me too this wholesale nail salon in Argyle and I bought 2 Essie...

A little sun burnt
…from sitting out in the sun today. Milo is munching away on a corn on the cob (cob only for the most part). It is very cute how he lays down and holds the cob between his paws. ‘m super excited for Harry Potter 7.2! Tickets are bought, made my bff’s also buy them, and I’ve spent the majority of the day surfing the net of Harry Potter stuff. I love seeing the pictures...

Hopelessly unemployed...
I just graduated and am looking, looking, looking for a job. Somehow I graduated with a chemical engineering degree whilst working all five years during school with summer classes in between. So I feel like a good, no nothing summer while I do my job search. It’s been great so far, but I feel I have way too much time on my hands. Therefore, I thought I would start a blog, again. In the...
