I FINALLY finished the book earlier this morning! I feel like it took me far too long to finish… Well, I know it did but it’s because I started to work! Anywho, it’s about two girls and their lives in 19th century China. It details them as little girls, their foot binding process, marriage, and their post-marriage lives (the book is essentially broken down like that). The foot binding process was tough to read because it was very detailed (thoroughly researched by author Lisa See), and not a pleasant thing to imagine before bed. It was a good read for the most part, but not as engaging as other books I’ve read recently. It’s more character driven story than plot driven. It’s an emotional story (of every emotion) and beautifully written.
YEAH got my deals on! Even though I went to sleep around 3am, I am now unable to sleep past 8am. Thank you job. We stood in line for about an hour and forty minutes at Best Buy and the line wrapped around to the back. I was worried I wouldn’t get any tickets for the items I wanted… but I did! Surprisingly, even though I was in the back, I suppose it was still early. I got an Ipad ($45 off, which is the same deal on apple.com) and HP laptop (for my dad). Some other items I thought was a steal was a couple DVD sets including Modern Family for $8.99! I get excited easily… The sucky part of the waiting in line part (besides the, well, waiting) was that they were letting only 50 people in every 15 minutes. Luckily, I was able to get in around 12:15, as they let people in since 11-ish. So, I wasn’t too far back!
I’ll probably hit up Target and Staples today or tomorrow. I still have to buy a few more presents. Good luck for everyone else venturing out today. Although if you did, I’m sure you already have, and hopefully you got some good deals!
Don’t get mad when a girl cares too much.
Worry when she starts not to care at all.
Perfectly says everything right now.

… but worse! I get it, there’s liberal and conservatives and in between. And then there’s the Tea Party. I really admired Hillary Clinton, being a woman force in politics, and then Sarah Palin was in the picture. I more tolerated her than anything because I really couldn’t picture her in the White House. The same went with this year’s Tea Party candidate for president 2012 election, Michelle Bachmann. Her slip-ups were amusing like assuming Elvis’s anniversary was celebrating his birthday but it was actually his death. Or even better, the John Wayne and John Wayne Gacy mix up! You didn’t even need a punch line with that mistake.
If you don’t know what she said on the Today Show, here’s a short clip from Hulu. It just beyond frustrates me, even angers me about what she said. You cannot, as a person in power and on national TV, say things like the HPV vaccine is a very dangerous drug and may cause mental retardation with NO medical or scientific proof to back up what you say. After Jenny McCarthy, a lot of parents double thought vaccines and still do! There has since been research to refute this false claim! Also, I really don’t understand the “immoral” aspect of the HPV vaccine. Just because you vaccinate your daughter at a young age doesn’t mean you are corrupting her. You are PROTECTING her in the FUTURE.
Apparently, Mrs. Bachmann has a long history of saying everything and anything she hears, wrong or right. But if you want anyone to take you seriously or think you have any type of credentials and credibility to run for president of the United States, you might want to research what you say first. Or, at least stick the script your team put together for you. Let’s hope what she said about the HPV vaccine to deter parents from getting their daughters vaccinated.
…meaning I got a job! A full blown, all out, daily grind, full-time job! I started yesterday with the I&C department. Now I can really say I am an ENGINEER, an instrumentation and controls engineer! Yesterday was the usual first day orientation, HR training which wasn’t too bad. Today was the real work. I got started on some sheet checking. Which is mainly checking new versions of P&IDS against old ones, and making sure everything was updated correctly. I got to print out some P&IDS on big ole papers. I even got to do my first redline markup today! I have my own spacious cubicle and a double screen computer! Oh, did I mention I even have my own name tag for my desk! I thought you would like to know interestingly, these are some tools of the trade…

La Tomatina in Bunol, Spain. Another place I want to go before I die. This is the longest food fight, it’s one hour and only overripe tomatoes!

Loy Krathong Festival in Thailand. Reminds me of Tangled. I have put this on my “Places to see and experience before I die list”… It’s beautiful. I wish I could step into the photo and just sit and watch the sky.

I saw The Help movie yesterday. I think in general it was good and did a good job staying true to the novel. However, I felt like the movie was only on the surface good. It wasn’t as deep as the book, and felt like a montage of the novel, especially Miss Skeeter’s story. I loved reading about Skeeter and Stuart’s relationship and its progression and even end throughout the novel, yet it was only an after thought in the movie. I understand that the movie wanted to emphasize the maid’s stories, but I kinda thought they would cater toward the romantic crowd too. As with all novel-to-movie stories, a few things were changed. Nothing major, but what stood out in a way I cannot figure good or bad, was the Skeeter’s mother and Constantine story. Her mother was betrayed in a better light in the movie and Constantine’s daughter was also black in the movie. Probably because they didn’t have room or time to develop the whole Constantine’s daughter looked white story. Hilly was the best. She was exactly how I imagined her, in look (except she was skinny in the movie) and behaved. Celia Foote had a lot of laughs and so did Minny! Minny was one of my favorite characters. Her sassiness is both poignant and hilarious! No one can forget the “Terrible Awful.” I wonder what people think of the movie who didn’t read the book?
